YouTube Premium Subscriptions Are Going Up for Long-Term Users January 1

YouTube Premium, for a long time, will pay a little more for the service in January.

Last July, YouTube announced that it would increase the value of YouTube Premium subscriptions; however, this would allow existing consumers to maintain their current rate until December. Unsurprisingly, those few months will end on January 1.

YouTube Premium subscriptions currently charge $13. 99, an increase of $2 per month. In an email to subscribers affected by the price change, YouTube said, “We don’t take those decisions lightly, however, this update will prevent us from continuing with Premium and helping the creators and artists you see on YouTube,” reports 9to5Google.

YouTube Premium allows users to watch videos on the site without ads. It also supports offline downloads and allows you to play videos in the background on your cellular device, even if you have another app.

When YouTube raised the price of Premium earlier this year, it wasn’t the only one. This was done shortly after several other streaming services, including Peacock, Disney, Netflix, and Apple TV, also announced rate increases.
