Twitter is an online social media page that is a wonderful example of an undeniable concept that is going a long way. Unfortunately, as one might have guessed, there is a yin to this yang. Since pretty much everyone can talk to their brain (and I mean anything), things can work out pretty temporarily. Discussions, trolling, bullying, hate comments, and general pettiness have a tendency to plague the site, as moderation on such a large online page can only go so far. This has caused Twitter to gain a less than stellar reputation over the years. But instead of focusing on that, I would like to talk about the positive side of said reputation; Despite all the issues other people have with the site, a big component of its appeal is how everyone can temporarily interact with each other. At any time, you can like, retweet, or reply to any post you see, and depending on the activity of the user on the other end of the line, they may reply to you as well. It’s an instant point of interaction that few social networking sites offer. And going back to the facet of the network that I discussed in the previous paragraph, there is a network in the form of components that I would like to highlight today: the artistic network.

Needless to say, sharing art online is far from new. Sites like Deviantart and Newgrounds (although the latter is best known for its user-created games and animations) have been around since the early 2000s, as have several independent fan sites of shows, games, and movies, which had pages dedicated to members. -fanart sent. However, what sets Twitter apart from the same old art-sharing internet sites is the fact that it’s a site designed for general social activity. For this reason, there is a bit more of an “immediate” nature when it comes to online interaction on the website. Of course, if you’re someone who has some fans and has never posted art before, you probably won’t explode in popularity right away, but, honestly, the component of laughter is being socially active and getting along with other people on the site. As wonderful as Twitter is for allowing artists to come together and share their creations with each other, there’s one minor drawback that dedicated art-sharing websites simply don’t have, and that’s a drawback. which is unfortunately by design. Twitter, like I said, was designed for social interaction, and tweets aren’t meant to be archived properly. Because of this, it’s easy for art on Twitter to get lost in someone’s feed, especially if it’s someone who uses the site frequently. For this reason, I think the most productive course of action for online artists is to have accounts on various other sites where they can post their art. Heck, some other people have sharing Twitter accounts committed to their jobs, allowing them to use their number one accounts for more social purposes. I stand by everything I have said so far; Twitter, as it stands lately, is one of the most productive places for percentage art. However, since Twitter doesn’t have a proper formula for archiving everything you’ve tweeted (or retweeted), it’s vital to archive your work. Simultaneously posting what you’ve done on Twitter and DeviantArt or Newgrounds will do wonders for your online presence as an artist.
