Shopify has immense influence due to its relationships with online merchants that Amazon wants to work with. That includes many merchants who already offer Amazon Pay, which allows shoppers to pay on third-party websites with their Amazon credentials, according to two other people familiar with Amazon. Over the past few months, Shopify has started handling invoices for all Amazon Pay transactions made on its U. S. merchants’ sites. The U. S. Department of Homeland Security has begun phasing out an integration that allows Amazon to take care of invoices itself.
