Colin Cowherd believes the Patriots have a more sensible NFL 10 fan, but that may be simply by default.
It’s fairly easy to be a member of Foxboro Faithful for the past two decades. New England reached nine Super Bowls in the days of Bill Belichick-Tom Brady and won the Lombardi Trophy six times. The Patriots have also been an effective means of the 2001 AFC East title.
As such, Cowherd can’t give too much credit to Patriots enthusiasts for their support. New England broke Cowherd’s strength ratings of the 10 most sensible bases in the NFL, albeit slightly with 10th place.
“The NFL team’s max continued on Twitter and Instagram. Now, here’s why they’re only 10 years old: it’s simple to be a fan of a 20-year-old dynasty when you win 98% of your games at home,” Cowherd said Wednesday on FOX Sports 1’s “The Herd.” “Now they are wonderful and faithful. Tom Brady’s product sales continue to be excellent. But I saw empty seats there, that was only 22 years ago. So I tied them up for — OK, they’re amazing, but for God’s sake, it’s simple when you win every single game in the house.”
Given the Patriots’ low-season revenue, the franchise would probably want more than ever the help of fans this season. Unfortunately for New England, enthusiasts will not be able to enter Gillette Stadium until at least September, and it remains to be noted if they will be able to occupy seats at any time during the 2020 campaign.
