The organization integrates AudioEye into its online page to make plans more accessible
Visit Albuquerque, the city’s Destination Marketing Organization (DMO), has made innovations on its online page VisitABQ.org that are designed to make plans for Albuquerque more digitally available to members of the disabled community.
For the past few months, the organization has been working to update its online page to comply with the U.S. Disability Act (ADA). The organization began integrating those updates in May and the full deployment ended in July. The enhancements come with virtual machines that are useful to all visitors to the online page, but are especially useful for aging populations; those who have visual, auditory, motor and cognitive impairments and colorblind, dyslexic, be informed to read, examine language for a moment or simply prefer to pay attention to reading.
“These innovations make our online page more welcoming and inclusive for a wider audience of users,” said Tania Armenta, president and CEO of Visit Albuquerque. “In addition, we are working to provide more resources and accessibility guides that will be useful for those who wish to visit Albuquerque in the future.”
Visit Albuquerque has partnered with AudioEye, a virtual accessibility software solution, to provide all online page visitors with equivalent access and a fully customizable user experience that can be tailored to individual needs.
The organization’s ADA compliance has been rated through its relationship with AudioEye and its spouse Simpleview.
As you browse VisitABQ.org, guests will notice a blue and white icon in the back right corner of the online page. Click the icon to enlarge the AudioEye toolbar, which allows guests to replace the layout, font size, contrast, and background colors, and also gives the guest the ability to read the page data aloud.
“We are passionate about selling the city as a world-class tourist destination for everyone,” Armenta said.
