Vestal construction housing a hardware store and demolished carpet

An old advertising design on Vestal Parkway that had housed businesses for several decades was demolished.

The two-story building just east of the Four Corners intersection was demolished this week by groups from LCP Group of Vestal.

Westfall Hardware has operated at 114 Vestal Parkway East for over 40 years. This company closed in February 1983.

Schaffer Darpino Rugs also dealt with construction more recently. This company now operates at a nearby walking site.

The Bright Nails saloon had been part of the construction for about 15 years. The salon moved its operations to University Plaza in Vestal in April.

While the newly demolished ground floor construction had been used as space, owner Peter Maciak said there were six apartments on the current floor.

Maciak said long-term use of the site is uncertain. It said it was looking to get the assets clean to make it available for new development. He said some other people have expressed interest in the site.

NOTHING LASTS FOREVER: Further adjustments are made to Vestal Parkway, such as an advertisement and residential construction from which that component of the facility has been removed for long-term development.
