Upcoming Area RPG Honkai Star Rail from Genshin Impact Developers Has an Opening Cinematic

Honkai: Star Rail, the upcoming open-world role-playing game from Genshin Impact’s miHoYo studio, has unveiled its superbly shot opening cinematic.

The scene, titled A Short Play, shows a war taking position on a giant spaceship after it is invaded by a gang of vaguely Gundam-style enemies, who appear to have reached the black holes. While several playable characters take the weapons opposite the bad guys or rush in, the purple-haired Kafka uses his skill with an air violin to set the level with an elegant, cinematic solo melody.

It’s unclear why he chose this specific moment to play music, but it definitely makes for a more entertaining trailer. The preview of Kafka’s character (opens in a new tab) describes her as “calm, serene, and beautiful,” so she definitely sounds like someone who would break an air violin an attack.

The closed beta of Honkai: Star Rail kicked off today, allowing some players on PC, Android, and iOS to enjoy turn-based action before the game’s full release. MiHoYo has not revealed if or when there will be a beta. set a company release date for Honkai: Star Rail.

Either way, Genshin Impact, anime, and sci-fi enthusiasts have a lot to do with it.
