In the June issue, Insider explores a new. . .
Two programmes have been presented for the former RAF Church Fenton site in North Yorkshire, adding detailed plans for a new arts centre adding new film and television studios.
A request for planning matters reserved for Selby district council has been submitted for the first phase of Create Yorkshire’s “creative centre”, which won approval of the plans in July 2020.
The reserved commercial app would come with two new buildings, offering 4 new film/TV studios, and one in particular designed for Create Yorkshire, all committed to the creative, virtual and media sector.
Future stages of the Create Yorkshire programme would come with ancillary areas, such as cafes and restaurants for visitors and others running on the site.
The application for now considers a new facility for BCA’s used vehicle market.
The company is approving plans to use two existing constructions and another specially designed 33,000-square-foot arrival construction and a 75,000-square-foot production facility. A new compromised parking area would also be planned. The cars would be ready and stored on site.
If approved, the BCA facility would generate a large number of jobs, ranging from engineering jobs to a variety of roles similar to the overall control of BCA operations, adding apprenticeships.
The former RAF Church Fenton is being rebuilt through Enterprises, with media, food and beverage, structures and aviation businesses on site.
The Create Yorkshire and BCA programmes were ready and presented through Pegasus Group, Alan Wood and Partners, BWB and WEL.
Chris Makin of Makins Ltd said: “We are very proud of what we have achieved since the acquisition of Church Fenton in 2014, helping to create a huge number of jobs.
“These two projects are a milestone that would bring a multi-million dollar investment in the North Yorkshire economy, as well as plenty of jobs with plenty of opportunities for the local population. The presentation of those plans brings us one step closer to maximizing the perspective of this exceptional site. “
