Twitter issues warn Trump tweet over mailboxes for breaking rules

President Trump won the precautionary label on Twitter, this time because of his accusations about the vote by mail.

Twitter reported a tweet On Sunday that mailboxes pose a health threat due to the coronavirus pandemic and are ready for voter fraud.

“So now Democrats are mailboxes, which are a crisis for voter safety,” Trump tweeted. “Among other things, they allow a user to vote multiple times. Besides, who controls them, are they located in Republican or Democratic areas? They are not disinfected through Covid. A big fraud!”

Twitter responded by placing a gray box in the tweet that the message violated social media giant’s regulations on civic and election integrity. “However, Twitter has made the decision that it may be in the public interest that the Tweet remains accessible,” the message added.

There is a “view” option that allows the viewer to view the original tweet, but adds an additional step to see the president’s message.

Now, Twitter has placed fact-checking and warning messages in Trump’s tweets, adding “guyipulated” videos and tweets about protests in Minneapolis opposed to George Floyd, a black guy who died in police custody, who the social media platform said violated his regulations on the glorification of violence.

Trump has criticized mass mail voting as an option to vote head-on to the pandemic, although many states have already taken steps to make it an option in November, raising considerations about the possibility of voter fraud. Experts have rejected Trump’s claims that mail voting is unsafe.
