Twitter has launched a new feature that allows users to learn more about their verbal exchanges. The microblogging site now allows platform users to decide who can respond to their verbal exchanges and also decide on participants for a verbal exchange to which they must respond.
“Since your Tweet, your space, we’ve been testing new settings to give others more control over the conversations they’re starting. Sometimes other people are more comfortable talking about what happens when they can decide who can respond. We’ve noticed other people using them to have conversations that weren’t really imaginable before. Starting today, everyone will be able to use those settings so that unwanted responses don’t interfere with meaningful conversations,” Suzanne Xie, director of product management, said in a statement.
We tried, you tweeted and now we’re transmitting it to everyone! pic.twitter.com/w6Q3Q6DiKz
Xie said that tweets with the last two settings will be classified and that the reaction icon will be grayed out for others who can’t respond. People who can’t respond will continue to watch, retwe, retwerated with a comment, percentage, and like those tweets.
Here’s how to use the new feature:
How can I respond to your tweet?
1. Click the globe icon when you type a new tweet for who can respond to your tweet.
2. Choose from the following options: “All”, “People You Follow” or “Only The People You Mention”.
3. Finish the setup and your tweet
