Social media celebrities Bryce Hall and Blake Gray face up to $2,000 and a year in criminal offenses after large, noisy demonstrations that city officials allege young people celebrated this month in a space on Appian Way.
Feuer rebuked the couple for their alleged habit on a press occasion on Friday, home parties are “potential mass market occasions for COVID-19.”
“If you have a total of 19 million subscribers in TikTok, in the midst of a public fitness crisis, it’s a style of behavior, smart practices for all of us,” Feuer said, “instead of brabing to the law and then posting videos about it, as we claim happened here.
The space was the site of two teams that attracted police on August 8 and 14, authorities said. Hall and Gray are accused of violating a municipal law that prohibits giant and rebellious meetings, and some other law to protect the lives of city citizens in a local emergency.
Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti announced last week that the Department of Water and Energy had cut off power at the Appian Way home, a move designed to deter others from holding large gatherings during the pandemic.
Not without delay he returned an email to a representative of the two men. Hall told TMZ last week that he deserved to have his space cut off in the city and expressed regret after being asked about one of the festivities. “Now I’m just facing the consequences,” Hall said.
Feuer’s workplace also filed rates this week in two other cases similar to illegal parties at home. The owner of a house on Outpost Drive and the owner of the Sunset View Drive apartment have been charged, Feuer said. Both houses also organized parties and were cited in the past, Feuer said.
