Three SIdmouth task forums, in addition to the questionable Sidford Business Park, are among those being reviewed by the District Council.
Members of the East Devon District Council’s Strategic Planning Committee are expected to discuss the review of employment land for the year ending March 2021 at their next meeting.
The document identifies reasons for employment at 3 sites in Sidmouth:
Alexandria Road is owned by several owners and is described through the District Council as an “aging” in two parts.
The document adds: “The southern part, with its own road, is occupied by a masonry merchant in an old railway enclosure and several small sets with façade to road adjacent to the old station building.
“The northern domain is busy through a diversity of ads and ad sets and a self-storage facility. The path to the site through Pathwhorlands is not ideal, and this has been a limitation beyond development.
“The property covers more than 4 hectares and is illustrated in the plans below. “
Manstone Lane is smaller at 0. 76 hectares and sits on two unconnected lots. One component houses nine games in the “Manstone workshops, while the other has a garage backyard that belongs to the council.
Finally, the third is a nearby Two Bridges Road in Sidford that has permission to replace the use of farmland to 8,000 m² of land to create the new Sidford Business Park.
The application was first rejected by the District Council for “less road safety”, but this resolution was overturned on appeal.
A request reserved for the site granted last year.
The report is submitted to the Strategic Planning Committee to “ensure that the Council has an up-to-date follow-up to the available work grounds” in East Devon.
EDDC official James Coles said in his report: “The national plan-making policy framework calls for local government to have sustainable economic expansion by defining a transparent economic vision and strategy for its region and ensuring that there is enough land for expansion.
“The rules of the national plan-making policy provide recommendations on employment considerations that can be monitored, which form the basis of this report. “
The committee will meet practically on Tuesday, June 7 at 10 a. m. It is that the advisers take note of the report.
The assembly can be on the District Council’s YouTube page.
