Three other people were killed in the Indian city of Bangalore after police fired on crowds protesting a supposedly blasphemous Facebook post.
They put cars in the chimney and attacked police officers who came to the site with stones, police told BBC Hindi.
Police arrested the guy and others in the crowd.
The city commissioner, Kamal Pant, said at least 60 police officers, in addition to senior officers, were injured in Tuesday night’s violence. A curfew was also imposed in two police districts of the city, he said.
Meanwhile, city police tweeted that the stage was “under control,” adding that staff fired live ammunition to disperse the crowd only after tearing fuel and canes.
The deaths were shown through the Minister of the Interior of the state of Karnataka, of which Bangalore is the capital.
The violence began after protesters concentrated outdoors in the politician’s space and a police station after seeing the message, which local media said has since been removed.
Meanwhile, the legislator, Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, broadcast a video called on the protesters to calm them down and promised them justice.
“I call on my Muslim brothers not to fight for those who have broken the law. Anyway, we’re all brothers. Whoever is guilty, we will make sure that the culprits are punished. I’m with you,” I said.
