The Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 14 Linux computer now available with Ryzen 7 8845HS or Intel Core Ultra 7 155H chips

The Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 14 is a premium computer with a 14-inch, 2,880 x 1,800 pixel display and a compact design. It is also a computer that becomes popular with Linux: Tuxedo offers its own operating formula based on Ubuntu called Tuxedo OS, yet you can also configure the computer with Ubuntu or Kubuntu software. You can also have Windows if you are willing to pay more.

While last year’s Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen 8 came with an Intel Raptor Lake processor, the new InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen 9 is available with a choice of AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS or Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processors. The new style also features some other vital changes.

On the one hand, the 2024 edition of this features an aluminum chassis for a more robust construction than the previous generation model, which had a plastic-magnesium alloy body.

Another difference: While both laptops feature 2. 8K IPS LCD displays with up to 400 nits of brightness, the new style supports screen refresh rates of up to 120Hz, while last year’s edition capped at 90Hz .

This year’s computers also have up to 96GB of DDR5-4800 memory or up to 64GB of DDR5-5600 RAM. The Gen 8 computer can only support up to 64GB of DDR5-4800 memory.

And Tuxedo claims that the new model’s dual fans and heatpipes will offer improved cooling capacity, allowing AMD’s CPU to run up to 54 watts for extended periods of time, while models with Intel chips can run up to 60 watts (the explanation why AMD’s TDP is lower). This is because the chip manufacturer limits it to 54 watts).

That said, there are some settings that other people might downgrade. Although the previous generation style has a nine-nine Wh battery (compared to the Gen nine styles’ 80 Wh), the Gen 8 edition weighed just 1. 3 kg (2. nine pounds) compared to the 1. . 5 kg (3. 3 lb) from the InfinityBook Pro 14 2024. And there is no longer an option for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 discrete graphics.

But since the AMD edition of the new InfinityBook Pro 14 has a Radeon 780M graphics card and the Intel edition has an Intel Arc graphics card, you’ll still be able to use either formula for some smooth gaming or graphics work.

The Intel and AMD models have two SODIMM slots for memory, two M. 2 slots for PCIe 4. 0 SSD storage, and measure 311 x 220 x 17 mm (12. 2″ x 8. 7″ x 0. 7″).

Tuxedo claims that the Intel model should be able to have up to 8 hours of battery life in local video playback, while the AMD edition should last up to 10 hours. Both come with a 100-watt USB Type-C power adapter.

Ports include:

Your computer deserves to be able to make up to 3 external presentations if you use the USB-C ports and HDMI port simultaneously.

There’s also WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5. 3 via an Intel AX211 or AX210 wireless card (they’re essentially the same, but the Intel models have the AX211 while the AMD versions have the AX210).

Other features include a 2MP webcam with 1080p video support, an integrated privacy shutter, and a backlit keyboard available in ISO or ANSI configuration.

The Tuxedo InfinityBook Pro 14 Gen 9 is available for pre-order now and is expected to start shipping in mid-to-late August 2024.

Prices start at €1,229 for the AMD model with 16 GB of RAM and 500 GB of storage or €1,339 for the Intel model with the same memory and storage. These prices come with VAT (Value Added Tax) for European users, plus others. People outside Europe can order the laptops at starting prices of 1,033 or 1,125 euros respectively. Just keep in mind that those costs do not include shipping costs or local taxes.

Phew. Another Linux computer with too many numbers in the price.

Why all laptops have such horrible keyboards. After all, it’s best suited to typing an Internet address and not running a text longer than “hello world. “
