The meat processing plant will not work again in general until the HSE says it should

A meat processing plant will not reopen completely until HSE informs the control that it must do so.

A of O’Brien’s Fine Foods, founded in Timahoe to Kildare, said the company took HSE’s recommendation seriously and had implemented a rigorous testing regime at the plant.

Another test circular is taking position today and is being carried out through the HSE. The company said it would also run tests every 14 days over the next few months.

More than 85 people from the company have tested positive for Covid in recent weeks.

The press adds that all workers are still paid in full.

“We are taking a slow, controlled and slow technique to reopen with general operations that will resume from August 24. Minimum garage operations, approved through the HSE, will continue at particularly low capacity levels,” he said.

The plant was scheduled to resume some forms of paint on August 18, but since then this has been delayed until August 24.

A corporate spokesman said: “Since the first Cases of Covid-19 in Ireland last February, O’Brien Fine Foods has implemented a rigorous policy of protection and fitness.

“This includes house paints for all non-operational personnel, mandatory personal protective equipment, plexiglass screens, changed operating and rest times, site visitor restriction policy, temperature check, adjustments to painting practices, communications in five languages, and extensive cleaning and disinfection procedures. Additional cleaning staff on site.

“The Timahoe plant was also fully audited through the right inspectors during this period, with no unidentified disorder.”
