The Russian State Museum of Oriental Art has opened an exhibition through Israeli artist Rami Meir.
The exhibition “The History of a People – for the Whole World” includes 31 desirable works of art that brilliantly reflect the history and culture of the Jews of the mountains, the museum reported.
The Jews of the mountains had settled in the Caucasus more than two thousand years ago. Located km northwest of Baku, Krasnaya Sloboda (Red Village) is home to the country’s largest Jewish mountain network and one of the largest Jewish populations in the former Soviet Union. This Jewish pact of Guba has been inhabited by Jews since the 13th century.
“My main purpose is to collect and know the history of my descendants and the world at large. I think a user who doesn’t know his story doesn’t know others. But I love other people who not only know their culture and history, but also help to revive it,” the artist said.
While running in the Mountain Jewish series, Rami Meir studied in detail the history of his village. He collected a series of ancient documents that helped him recreate the traditions, crafts and classic art costumes of the Jews of the mountains.
For his exhibition, the artist also studied the texture and classic colors of the fabrics, as well as the jewels and symbols devoted. He incarnated all this wisdom in beautiful paintings.
The artworks of the Israeli artist were highly appreciated by art lovers.
“The Series of Paintings Through the Artist” Mountain Jewish “re-examines the role and position of culture and history of small local teams in the wonderful art world. This is the theme of cultural price and the history of small towns for global culture. And many wonderful artists have raised this theme in their art,” said exhibition curator Natalia Ivanova.
Speaking of the exhibition, the advisor to the Director General of The Moscow State Museum of Tatiana Eastern Metaksa noted that his art, Rami Meir, reflects the lives of the Jews of the mountains. He noted that the artist’s works are imbued with wisdom.
“The paintings of the Israeli artist Rami Meir show us the global of a century ago. The exhibition reflects the lives of the Jews on the mountain: here are the weddings, visits to the service of the Russian army, portraits of the elderly and much more,” he said. Tatiana MetaksaArray
The exhibition at the Eastern State Museum is open until September 6, 2020.
Rami Meir is an Israeli artist born in Azerbaijan. He is also a poet, singer, of song lyrics.
Meir is the president of the Union of Jewish Mountain Artists of Russia. His paintings are preserved in many art collections in Russia, the United States and Israel.
Rami Meir creates paintings in artistic styles, from realism to Impressionism. His works of art are characterized by exclusive symbols that never cease to amaze art lovers.
