Well, you can’t accuse LG of being afraid to see something new. LG’s next phone is the absolutely wild LG Wing, a dual screen design that turns out to open in the form of a “T” thanks to a swivel hinge. Android Authority has recorded a 10-second video of the device that provides false evidence that this crazy concept exists.
The first news of the Wing phone came from Korean ETNews earlier this year, which announced a release date in October. The site only had a mock-up of the device at the time, which is now perfect. The report indicates that the device has a 6.8-inch main screen, a 4-inch secondary screen with a height/width ratio close to 1:1 and a Snapdragon 765G SoC. This would give you the same screen and soC as the LG Velvet.
LG pulls the envelopes out of its “Velvet” smartphone, priced at $738 in Korea. The phone’s most sensitive and rear halves are the same size, so it turns out that the concept here is that the phone folds into a general form of smartphone. LG had mainly built this design on a multifunctional teletephone, the LG VX9400, which turned out to be Tony Stark’s first teleteletphone at Iron Man in 2008.
In the Android Authority video, the secondary demo is used for split screen. The main screen presents a map, while the secondary screen first presents the music commands and then the phone controls when a call is made. The ETNews mock-up showed a keyboard in the secondary demo, which would be very similar to the VX9400.
That’s all we know about this device. LG hasn’t said a word about it, so we don’t even know if it’s a widely introduced smartphone or a niche device that will only be presented in Korea. Stay tuned.
