The Galaxy S30 is Samsung’s next flagship product expected for now that the launch of the Galaxy Note 20 was us, and the latest leak suggests smart news for prospective buyers: an increase in battery capacity.
The Dutch GalaxyClub has obtained data on a new battery to come, labeled EB-BG996ABY. This may not mean much to you, but it’s also similar to a phone with the style number SM-G996, which is probably the Plus variant of the Galaxy S30.
According to the specifications provided, the battery is expected to have a capacity of 4800 mAh, which would increase the battery capacity of 4500 mAh built into the Galaxy S20 Plus. Hopefully, this means we get a battery buildup across the entire S30 range.
Even if this data is accurate, battery life isn’t just about battery capacity: screen size, software optimization, and thermal engineering also play an important role. However, we hope Samsung will have some battery innovations to talk about in February.
It’s still too early for rumors to begin to appear about the Galaxy S30, but we’ve heard some whispers about what to expect. It was considered a camera update, which can solve some of the autofocus and overexposure issues that affected the S20 Ultra.
Another recent rumor suggests that next year’s flagship product could simply abandon the flight time camera (ToF) sensors of S20 phones. This is to make sure the generation is up to what newer iPhones are making in this area.
In fact, almost every single rumor about the Galaxy S30 we’ve heard so far has been similar to the camera in one way or another; even an integrated camera has been communicated that would mark the notch on the screen, even if we are less convinced of that.
If Samsung sticks to its same previous calendar, Galaxy S30 phones will be announced sometime in February 2021, although, as with any other generation version at this time, this window can move smoothly.
