Microsoft’s latest revision of Windows Terminal brings a new mode and even visual mode to your command-line application, as well as several new commands and a new UI configuration.
Focus mode appears in the Windows 1.2 terminal preview and allows users to hide tabs and name bars so they can focus only on the terminal content. Terminal users must upload a key link for toggleFocusMode into their settings.json file.
This preview also brings an “on mode” that allows Windows Terminal Preview to be the highest window. This can be enabled with the global OnTop setting, as well as a key binding that uses the toggleAlwaysOnTop command.

Following the release of Terminal 1.0 in May, Microsoft released monthly Windows terminal updates and monthly windows Terminal Preview channel updates. Both versions can be run from look and feel. Last month’s Windows Terminal 1.1 release now changes to Windows Terminal, available on the Microsoft Store or GitHub.
The Windows terminal offers multiple tabs so that users can paint with multiple computers such as PowerShell, the spark off command, and Windows subsystems for Linux distributions.
This preview introduces a variety of new key combination commands in the Windows terminal that allow users to set the tab color, open the tab’s color picker menu, rename the chosen tab, and enable uns fashionable terminal effects.
Cascadia Code, the source evolved through Microsoft for Windows Terminal, has gained font weights so that users can ‘normal’, ‘thin’, ‘extralight’, ‘fat’, etc.
Windows Terminal participants also run on a variety of commands, which quickly provides all the functions of the Terminal. For example, it can be used to locate the “focus mode”.
Finally, a new configured user interface is ready after participants have decided on the design of the user. Users will be able to set a default profile for launch, as well as the duration of the window launch and the appearance of the Windows terminal.
