CHARLESTON, W. V. –The state’s most popular activities with the state’s Division of Motor Vehicles are unavailable until more activities are held due to a mainframe issue.
The company announced Thursday morning that its mainframe computer broke down due to a hardware issue.
“Currently, driver’s licenses, IDs, and motor vehicle renewals cannot be issued at DMV’s 26 regional offices, online, or at DMV Now kiosks in West Virginia,” the DMV said in a statement.
The firm said county sheriff’s offices can’t process vehicle registration renewals when the mainframe computer isn’t working.
There is no estimated date for the recovery of services, the VDD said.
“DMV regional offices remain open, but consumers are aware that all facilities could be impacted. Customers continue to monitor the DMV’s online page and social media for updates,” the agency’s announcement read.
