Dorsey has had an eventful career in Silicon Valley. After co-founding Twitter on March 21, 2006, he was named the company’s CEO two years later, but returned in 2015 after founding his second company, Square, which he renamed Block in 2021.

He led Twitter through the tech surprise that engulfed social media companies, continually testifying before Congress, then stepping down as Twitter’s CEO in 2021 and nonetheless encouraged Musk’s acquisition of Twitter the following year.
