Tesla would have won 50,000 orders for the new style and with an update design in approximately 24 hours, to a new report in China.
Last week, Tesla unveiled the model and model cycle update in China and some markets provided through Tesla’s Shanghai factory.
Deliveries begin in March. The new style has not yet been introduced in Europe or North America, however, it is intended to do so in the coming months.
The update has received mixed reviews as the updated design is not as well received as the Model 3’s recent design refresh and the specs and feature upgrades are basically in line with the Model 3 refresh.
But Tesla would have won a giant number of orders for updated electric vehicles.
According to several reports from Chinese bloggers claiming to have from Tesla salespeople (via Car News China), the automaker received 50,000 Y-style styles on the first day of the design presentation.
It is difficult to evaluate the importance for Tesla. The automobile manufacturer delivered around 480,000 YS models in China in 2024, or about 5% in the annual sliding.
50,000 sets would constitute just over a month’s worth of orders on a single day, however, the design update planned for about a year. So, there is a lot of craving for accumulation so that other people were waiting for the update update.
It is also a value to point out that one of the resources said that Tesla is guiding that the new orders will now not be delivered until April or May, which has been used as evidence of the orders number.
However, the Chinese and Tesla configurator mentions March deliveries for new orders established:
Maybe the better question is “What happen to US Model Y purchases after new MY China reveal”? My guess is, it’s not looking good for Q1 unless Tesla is going to reveal and put the plan in motion in USA fast.
Tesla has yet to release the updated functionality edition of the new electric SUV.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Tesla received 50,000 orders for the new Y-style in China, but I’d take this appointment with a grain of salt. Tesla dealers have incredibly limited visibility into sales beyond their own locations, and the resources seem to come from them and are passed on through Chinese bloggers on social media.
This, combined with the fact that the configurator mentions the March deliveries, makes me doubts.
That said, 50,000 orders isn’t a number either.
