Tesla launches slightly updated Model Y in China

Tesla has announced an updated Model Y in China with an LED light strip, new wheels and faster acceleration.

It’s not a major update, but it’s worth noting.

While all eyes remain on the launch of the new Model 3, Tesla has quietly released an updated edition of the Model Y at Gigafactory Shanghai.

The update introduces the LED strip around the sprint that made the first impression on the newly refreshed Model 3 to the Model Y.

Here is the symbol of the updated online configurator:

The ambient light strip doesn’t look the same as the new Model 3, but it’s very similar and can also be controlled with other colors on the center display.

Tesla has also updated the Gemini wheels, which are the popular Model Y wheels, with a darker color:

Finally, Tesla has made the vehicle a little faster with the basic Model Y, now with an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5. 9 seconds:

Currently, the Model 3 and Model Y cars coming out of the Shanghai Gigafactory have been upgraded.

The cars are expected to only be available in markets that source Tesla cars made in China, such as Asia, Europe, and Canada.

It’s worth noting that Tesla advisers told consumers in China that the updated Model Y still comes with Autopilot 3. 0 hardware instead of the new HW 4. 0 in American-made vehicles.
