The popularity of Tesla cars has skyrocketed over the past three years thanks to the brand’s ever-growing range. Since then, production has increased, surpassing, passing the 2 million mark in less than 18 months later, to reach 3 million in 11 months. A symbol shared on Weibo via Tesla shows that the five millionth vehicle produced by the company is a refurbished Model 3 painted white. Less than two weeks ago, Tesla’s Chinese factory celebrated the structure of its 2 millionth vehicle, a staggering figure when you consider that production on the site only started at the end of 2019. Tesla officially claims that the Chinese factory has an annual capacity of more than 750,000 vehicles, but it would actually be closer to one million units, making it Tesla’s largest production site.

Tesla’s second-largest factory is headquartered in Fremont, California. It currently manufactures the Model 3, Model Y, Model S and Model X and has a combined annual production capacity of 650,000 units. The Berlin plant is valued at 375,000 units per year, while the Texas plant can produce around 250,000 cars per year, Electrek reports.
The automaker said production would decline slightly in the third quarter due to plant upgrades, such as those made in China to build the new Model 3. However, once production of the Cybertruck ramps up in Texas, Tesla’s production figures are expected to exceed six million. mark in early 2024.
