Apple is rumored to be planning a redesign of the Apple Watch for the device’s 10th anniversary, and 91mobiles claims to have received CAD renderings of what could simply be the “Apple Watch X” or Apple Watch Series 10 from industry experts.
The claims that the renders are of a “bigger” style with a 2-inch screen. The existing Apple Watch Series 9 has a 1. 7-inch display, while the Apple Watch Ultra has a screen size of 1. 93 inches, so it will be the largest demonstration on an Apple Watch to date.
That said, its dimensions are said to measure around 46 x 39. 7 x 11. 6mm, which would make it overall larger than the Series Nine but smaller than the Ultra. Otherwise, the renders recommend a design for the Series Nine, with a virtual crown and look button and a square display.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that a particularly refreshed “Apple Watch X” will be released in 2024 or 2025, to mark the device’s 10th anniversary, so it may simply be the anniversary device, or the Apple Watch Series 10. The original Apple Watch announced in September 2014 and released in April 2015.
Gurman said that the “Apple Watch X” will come with a thinner case. The Bloomberg journalist also said that there would potentially be a magnetic tape attachment system, there is no evidence of this in the renders.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo recently claimed that the Apple Watch Series 10 will be thinner and will come in larger screen lengths than previous models. Kuo said that the screen length characteristics on the next-generation Apple Watch will increase from 41mm to 45mm and from 45mm to 49mm, all wrapped up in a slimmer design. For reference, the Apple Watch Ultra has a 49mm case.
It’s unclear at this point if the CAD renderings are accurate, but in any case, Apple releases new Apple Watch models around September alongside its new iPhone lineup. Apple is reportedly contemplating integrating blood pressure tracking this year, with the watch capable of detecting hypertension. while sleep apnea detection is also expected to come to the Apple Watch 2024 model.
