The COVID-19 pandemic has more people than ever before as Amazon commanders, and of course scammers find tactics to take advantage of the trend: scammers pass on Amazon employees, call other people, and claim they want data about their account. And if it wasn’t confusing enough, the scammers forge BBB’s phone number to do so.
HOW THE SCAM WORKS
He answers the phone and it is a recorded message that is supposedly from Amazon stating that there is a challenge with his Amazon account. The message goes from a fraudulent fee on your Prime card to a lost or broken package to an unauthorized order executed for an iPhone 10, but regardless of registration, those scammers have the same goal: to get your non-public information. The scammers will ask you. directly credit card and / or account login information or request a remote control from your PC under the guise of “helping” solve the challenge.
Also look for a confusing twist on this scam. Scammers spoof the phone numbers of other organizations to help hide their calls and give them credibility, by adding the BBB number! This means they are probably other phone numbers, so be careful.
HOW TO LOCATE THIS SCAM
Be skeptical about unsolicited emails and calls. Some Amazon will call customers, but Amazon will never ask you to disclose or find out non-public sensitive data or offer you a refund you don’t expect. Amazon will never ask you to pago. de the doors on your online page and will never prompt you for remote access to your device.
Ignore unsolicited messages that request non-public information. Amazon will never send you an unsolicited message asking you to provide sensitive non-public information, such as your tax identification number, bank account number, or credit card information.
Ignore calls for immediate action. Scammers want you to act before they think about creating a sense of urgency.
Beware of payment requests via bank transfer, prepaid debit card or CashApp (such as MoneyPak, iTunes or similar cards), they are almost a sign of fraud.
Tell Amazon. Any visitor who receives a questionable email or call from someone who becomes an Amazon worker will need to report it to Amazon Visitor Service.
