The Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers will meet on Friday, August 11 at Raymond James Stadium in what will be the first preseason game for the teams.

The Buccaneers finished with an 8–9 record, which was smart enough to win the NFC South, while the Steelers finished 9–8 and finished third in the AFC North, narrowly missing the playoffs. The Buccaneers are in the midst of open quarterback competition, and the offseason will go a long way toward determining which pointer gets the green light to lead the team. Bucs head coach Todd Bowles, a former NFL defensive back, knows what it’s like to be a young player hoping to earn a spot on the definitive roster. “You’re not worried about the national anthem or the fans,” Bowles said of the preseason game. “You’re looking to be part of the team, so you have a lot of butterflies. You know you’re going to play rookie and you’re going to play on all the special teams.
On the other hand, Pittsburgh will play most of its starters in this game, according to head coach Mike Tomlin, who explained his reasoning before the game.
“Obviously, we need to keep everyone on their feet. But injuries are part of the game,” Tomlin said. “We can’t live with our fears. We have to prepare the Americans and collectives to play. I’m inclined to the game, in general. I know there are other approaches to preseason, and I respect other people’s approaches and opinions, but it’s been in my zone of convenience.
The young players on the Pittsburgh side will actually get a bunch of representatives, especially in the current half, and Tomlin will also be looking for team spirit in his position groups.
“If we’re going to box, we have to train,” Tomlin added. If we have to prepare for the normal season, preseason is a way to do it for the Americans and collectives. “
