Starfield players have found that the game doesn’t repair sunlight if you have an AMD Radeon graphics card.
Although it’s associated with AMD Radeon, it turns out there’s a bug that causes a small but noticeable graphical factor related to several of the game’s suns (via PC Gamer). One player took to Reddit to draw attention to the factor, explaining that if you travel in the daytime aspect of a moon with no atmosphere, you find that the sun doesn’t shine at all.
User Yoraxx showed images of what the sun looks like on a GeForce RTX 3070 Ti graphics card compared to the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT. The Nvidia card shows how bright the sun is and it’s beautiful, but with the AMD card, there’s surely nothing to see.
The player commented that this factor also applies to planets with atmosphere, and even more screenshots of how the sun is depicted appear in the game. For AMD maps, from the surface of the planets, you will see a sky illuminated, but there will be no sun.
“Your game does NOT repair the sun,” they said. There will be light and shadow effects, but you may not be able to see the sun regardless of the planet or moon with or without atmosphere. “
While this is rarely shown at this time, they noted that it may only be a factor for some newer AMD 6000 and 7000 series GPUs. Several users responded explaining that they too had encountered the issue, with one player saying: “People, please upvote this post, so Bethesda can see it and provide a fix in the near future. . . Another user said that if the error was not constant in the short term, he could expect a modification.
