SspeedX continued the record speed of rocket launches from the Sspeed Coast with a nighttime liftoff on July 8 from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
A Falcon nine rocket of the Turksat-6A project carrying a Turkish communications satellite into a geosynchronous motion orbit lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Space Station at 7:30 p. m. (local time). Eastern Time.
This is the 15th flight of the top-tier booster, which made a recovery landing downstream of the Just Read the Instructions drone parked in the Atlantic.
It’s the 50th launch of the year from Canaveral or the nearby Kennedy Space Center, and SpaceX is guilty of 47 of them.
The other three came from United Launch Alliance in a year when they could fly more than a hundred missions for the first time, breaking the record of 72 launches since 2023.
Both SpaceX and ULA have other launch plans by the end of the month, adding SpaceX’s next Starlink launch, scheduled for July 12. ULA is targeting July 30 at the earliest for an Atlas V project in the USSF-51 project for the Space Force. , while SpaceX expects billionaire Jared Isaacman to return to space as part of the Polaris Dawn project no earlier than July 31.
Isaacman participated in the Inspiration4 project with 3 passengers in 2021 on an orbital project aboard Dragon Resilience Crew, which is expected to be his adventure again. This time, he flew with his pilot friend Scott Poteet and two SpaceX employees, Sarah Gillis and Anna. The highlight of the project is a captive spacewalk planned for Isaacman and Gillis, which would be the first publicity spacewalk in history.
The flight would mark the fourth of six manned projects planned this year from the Space Coast.
