Spacex also refines an engine in the first super heavy rocket in 33 engines for the first time.

“The upcoming flight check will launch a next-generation shipment with significant upgrades, tentr sparsend of Starsend’s payload deployment payload, flies over several re-entry experiments intended to send capture and reuse, and release and convert the super-heavy booster,” SpaceX wrote in the project overview.

If all goes well, the super-heavy scene of Starship Flight 7 will return to Earth to be captured via giant steel “stick” arms on their release pad at Starbase. SpaceX was successful on such a rocket in October from its flight verification of flight five, but signaled an attempt to take a flight 6 launch a month later.

SpaceX officials have said they will only proceed with the Flight 7 Super Heavy catch if the rocket and its launch tower each meet critical criteria to ensure a safe catch. If those criteria aren’t met, the Super Heavy will automatically default to a soft landing and splashdown in the Gulf of Mexico, as it did during Flight 6.

“We don’t settle for any compromises when it comes to making sure that the safety of the public and our team, and the return only takes a stand if the situations are right,” SpaceX managers wrote in the mission preview.
