SEC soccer groups have been criticized for their convention schedules.
They have long been known for taking on the warring parties of FCS (like everyone else), making a pass strategically the week before to prepare for, and scheduling the most commonly unbiased site games so they don’t have to hit the road.
But in recent years, those out-of-conference games have been the productive highs and highs of the entire school football season.
A wonderful example is the circular series of Georgia and Notre Dame in 2017 and 2019. These games played a central role in the qualification of school football at the end of the season.
Starting next year, the Georgia Bulldogs will face the Oregon Ducks and the Florida Gators the Utah Utes for the first time since 1977.
LSU with Brian Kelly now at the helm will face Florida State in Week 1.
And Alabama will travel to Austin, Texas, to face the Texas Longhorns in Week 2. This is their first game since the 2010 BCS National Championship game.
Here’s a deeper look at those 4 clashes.
