NEW ORLEANS (press release) – For the first time in history, whisky is legally produced in the Central Business District of New Orleans and will be on sale at Sazerac House, the immersive and lively festival that opened in October 2019. Sazerac RyeArray Sazerac’s flagship rye brand, is produced through the sazerac distillery team and distilled into a still as it is located at Sazerac’s first-floor distillery exhibition. After production on site in New Orleans, Sazerac Rye barrels will be old at Sazerac’s Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, KY.
“Sazerac Rye’s production at our distillery is at the center of every single thing we seek to offer at Sazerac House, putting our entire history in a new context by creating the ultimate award-winning American rye whisky here in New Orleans,” said David Bock, director of distillery operations at Sazerac House. “Our distillery team will advise consumers through each and every step of the distillation process, giving them the opportunity to see, feel and even touch other parts of the process, while Sazerac Rye is sent to age.
The Sazerac House distillery will produce Sazerac Rye with a capacity of 500 gallons that is still produced through Vendome Industries of Kentucky. The teapot/pot has a diameter of 60 inches and a 12-plate column 17 inches in diameter, visual from Canal Street through top two-story windows.
In addition to distillation at Sazerac Rye’s place, Sazerac also offers Sazerac Rye bottled in its on-site retail store for $27.00 for a 750ml bottle. Sazerac in situ product from Sazerac Rye can be purchased at Sazerac house after the aging process. Visitors can see it in action by booking a free excursion to Casa Sazerac.
