Reports imply that the upcoming iPhone 16 may boast a more power-efficient display, thanks to a new set of OLED fabrics developed by Samsung exclusively for Apple, according to MacRumors.
This set of fabrics includes components that add overlapping layers, which are very important for converting the optical features of the display.
Specialized brands produce components that Samsung provides for the structure of the ultimate OLED panel.
Varying compositions within the array can affect OLED panel attributes such as lifespan, brightness, color accuracy, or production efficiency.
Previously, Samsung launched the “M12” set of curtains for the iPhone 15 models while creating a new “M14” set for Apple’s 2024 iPhones. It is now believed that the goal of this development, which was previously unclear, is to improve the power of the OLED panel.
According to Daejeong Yoon, a Korean analyst at Ubi Research, Samsung has moved on to replacing blue fluorescent fabrics with blue phosphorescence, potentially reducing the overall strength intake of the OLED panel.
Yoon suggests that Samsung would possibly reserve this energy-efficient material, destined for foldable phones in 2024, for Apple’s M14 set due to its complicated progression process.
Quoting Yoon, “M14 will be rolled out to the iPhone 17 in 2025 after its debut on the iPhone 16 next year, expanding its app to two years. “
The long-awaited iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are rumoured to offer larger displays, with the Pro set to play with a 6. 3-inch display and the Pro Max up to 6. 9-inches.
