The Samsung Galaxy S25 release date is just around the corner, and while we already have an idea of what the phone offers, more data may yet be leaked. New renders from GizmoChina show what appears to be a blue edition of the Galaxy S25. and Galaxy S25 Ultra, along with what looks like a magnetic case.
According to the site, this express color will be called Icy Blue on the Galaxy S25 and Titanium Blue on the Ultra, which is nice, I’m more interested in the MagSafe-style casing and the magnetic ring on the back. This can help rumors. that the Galaxy S25 will have Qi2 wireless charging. However, this is not yet verified.
The case is a “Crystal Flex” from popular case maker Spigen and features what looks like a magnetic ring around the outside. Spigen sells magnetic cases for the Galaxy S24, which allow compatibility with Qi2 and MagSafe accessories. Officially, those instances are called “MagFit” and it is conceivable that this is some other of those instances.
There has been at least one rumor that Samsung might not add the local Qi2 to the Galaxy S25. Instead, it has been claimed that the company could launch its own line of magnetic cases for the Galaxy S25. On the other hand, the Qi2 magnets may not work as well with an unaided case, and even Apple has its own line of approved MagSafe-compatible cases.
Spigen’s MagFit cases are designed to be compatible with MagSafe, though all of them appear to have the same single vertical line under the magnetic ring as Apple’s. The leaked renders don’t have this, suggesting something is different this time.
Maybe it’s greedy, but it’s possible that the update is because Spigen is aiming for Qi2 compatibility, which is distinct from MagSafe, despite their similarities.
Considering MagSafe-compatible cases are pretty commonplace, especially on Galaxy phones, it would be very strange for Samsung to release a magnetic case without adding Qi2 to its phones. I know I’d be highly disappointed to see another major Android phone maker shun the technology.
We’ll have to wait and see what Samsung has in store for us. Fortunately, the next Galaxy Unpacked is expected to be available on January 22, which is just over two weeks away. In the meantime, don’t check out our Samsung Galaxy S25 and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra hubs.
