Google introduced the Ultra HDR feature with Android 14, which allows users to capture and view HDR images on their Android devices in SDR HDR format. Some Chinese flagships already have a similar feature, but Samsung hasn’t implemented it with One UI. However, Samsung is rumored to be rolling out a feature similar to Ultra HDR in its smartphones next year.
The news comes from a reliable tipster, Ice Universe, who said that the Galaxy S24 line, which is expected to arrive in January 2024, will display HDR photos in photo albums. If true, it would be a smart way to use the Galaxy S24 line’s 2,500 nits Maximum Brightness.
Support for an Ultra HDR-like feature on the Galaxy S24 series will also improve photo display as HDR photos will no longer remain mapped to the SDR demo range, thereby retaining the brightness, contrast and color gamut of the original HDR. . The photo is not affected when viewed.
