In recent years, Nubia has established RedMagic as a gaming smartphone logo worth considering. It acts like a classic flagship, with high-end specs at a price closer to the mid-range festival than high-end smartphones, more so when high-end phones are gaming smartphones. And all this depending on the wishes of the players. With the arrival of the RedMagic 10 Pro, is Nubia still in charge?
One thing the RedMagic product line is known for is the common upgrade of phones. Not only do you get the annual virtual line update, but you also have a semi-annual update with an ‘S’ version. This ensures that the newest RedMagic gaming handheld will be very close to the most sensible in the stack when reading the Top Trumps specs.
For those looking to be as competitive as possible when gaming, a new RedMagic phone ensures top-of-the-line hardware is supplied. But this competitive value comes at a cost. . . the number of Nubia software and security updates For me, this is the weakest point of the RedMagic 10 Pro package: it comes with a single Android update (taking the phone to Android 16 still nothing plus), two years of UI updates and 3 years of security updates.
This is a short window, which makes it tricky to come up with the RedMagic10 Pro’s warning about its longevity. Is this compensated for through superior functionality and gaming-focused hardware?
At the heart of the RedMagic 10 Pro is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite, a high-end chipset. This is a popular chipset and will be noticed in many phones of 2025, but perhaps not with the additional hardware that RedMagic has surrounded it to achieve it. the highest performance imaginable.
Up to 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage are available. These use the speedy LPDDR5X and UFS 4.1 Pro protocols to move data quickly.
Keeping the 8 Elite as cool as possible is the key to maximising performance. Nubia uses liquid metal cooling to draw heat away from the chipset as quickly as possible. It’s a technique and material used in gaming laptops, but it’s a first for smartphones.
If that’s not enough, don’t forget that the RedMagic 10 Pro has a fan that circulates cooling air throughout the system. This means the 10 Pro lacks waterproofing, but it’s a special design decision to focus on gaming prowess rather than everyday use.
That’s not to say that the Redmagic 10 Pro can’t be used as a day-to-day phone. It’s a full implementation of Android, the Google Play Store is present, and the excess power needed for high-end gaming means that the average social media or office application has a lot of headroom to run in.

The battery is also an area where the 10 Pro excels. With a whopping 7,050 mAh built around Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 5 technology, it can accept up to 100W stressed charging, which comes in the retail package.
Gaming consumes a significant amount of energy. While Nubia quotes 18 hours of video playback, that breaks down to 6. 5 hours of Genshin Impact. Still, it’s enough battery to get you through two days of smart smartphone work or a few gaming sessions in one day without worrying about charging.
The design of the RedMagic 10 Pro can be summed up in a world. . . flat. Although there are rear cameras, there are no overhangs or islands on the back. The entire phone is cut off from a single block. This helps balance the 10 Pro in the hand and allows for longer gaming sessions to be enjoyed comfortably.
The rear camera can, just about, be graded as “adequate” but is nothing to write home about. This is where the majority of corners have been cut to allow Nubia to invest elsewhere in the RedMagic hardware, and it’s the logical place to do so. Those wanting a great camera will be aware of the smartphones they need to consider and will look elsewhere, and those here for gaming will be happy they can take the occasional snap.

Still, the Pro 10 is perfectly smooth. On the long edge, you still have the strength and volume buttons, the speaker, and the SIM card slot. You also get aerial triggers on the shoulders of the 10 Pro when playing in landscape mode. These can be programmed to reflect button presses or presses in any application via GameSpace software.
GameSpace is RedMagic’s traditional game launcher and is transferred by installing the app in the same way from Android or by turning the red transfer on the long edge of the device. If you only play games on the 10 Pro, I can’t think of why you wouldn’t leave this enabled.
More than any other smartphone genre, the gaming smartphone needs to go all-out on the screen. It needs resolution, a fast refresh, and a high touch-sampling rate. All of these directly affect how enjoyable mobile gaming can be.
With 1. 25mm thick bezels, the 10 Pro almost feels “all on screen”, helped by the admittedly weak selfie camera, which is a “secondary display” rather than a cutout. It is a 6. 85-inch display that runs at 1. 5K (2688 x 1216 pixels), allowing for plenty of detail to be displayed. The 144Hz screen refresh rate allows newer titles to run at their maximum practical speed while still being able to conveniently recall when needed. The sampling rate to capture your touch inputs has been higher than 2500 Hz.

All this gives a smooth gaming experience on the screen, both as visuals and as a controller. The shoulder triggers play a big part in the gaming experience as well. When they are supported directly, it’s excellent, but when they are not, programming them yourself (by dragging a crosshair over the screen to show where you want the ‘tap’ of the button to be reflected on the display) lets you customise games to your style.
The Nubia RedMagic 10 Pro doesn’t change the formula of previous RedMagic gaming phones; namely, make sure you have the highest specced system-on-chip running inside the machine with enough memory and storage to make good use of it, ensure the latest active and passive cooling technology is present, and put the lion’s share of the bill of materials into the screen.
Six months after the RedMagic 9S Pro, the RedMagic 10 Pro is a small step forward, but that’s the case for each and every RedMagic. You choose the newest phone, suitable for a few years of gaming, and move on to the next one.
That’s why the biggest weak point for me is not the camera but the software. A major version of Android is one of the weakest offerings yet. Three years of security updates are welcome, but those potential options make RedMagic seem a bit disposable.
The package hits the mark with a long-lasting battery, best-in-class display, and hardware and software gaming features to personalize the experience. And with costs starting at $649, you get a lot of power and functionality at a very competitive price.
