The Boston Red Sox got off to a smart start, but they couldn’t close the deal and claim a win.
The Red Sox took a 3-0 lead in Wednesday’s first entry to the game at Fenway Park, but temporarily saw their advantage diminished by the Atlanta Braves’ hands (or bats instead).
Atlanta beat Boston 7-5 and finished the three-game sweep.
The Red Sox relied on a pletlet of pitchers to get through the game, however Andrew Triggs eventually suffered defeat and a failed save.Tyler Matzek of Atlanta won.
With the verdict, the Red Sox fell to 12-25 while the Braves took a step forward at 22-14.
Here’s how it all turned out:
I PLAY IN A WORD
Boston had some clues in this case, but I couldn’t put it aside.
IN THE BUMP – Robinson Leyer lasted only one race, and was a little mixed.
The right-hander gave in a bachelor and a walk after withdrawing the first batter he faced, sat the last two batters to drop to the side.
– Mike Kickham took over in the second, and it wasn’t from the beginning.
After ceding a headbutt to Austin Riley, the left-hander allowed Adam Duvall to throw a two-point burst over the green monster, reducing boston’s three-point merit to one.
Kickham allowed two more men to succeed before Marcell Ozuna snatched a single pass with two outs that marked Johan Camargo from third place and tied the game at 3 issues each.
Jackie Bradley Jr. came here with a hook jumping on the precautionary track.
The left-hander had a big third outing, dropping the three Atlanta batters in order.
– Triggs controlled all the batters he saw in the fifth, but had some in the sixth.
The right-hander allowed Duvall to hit his streak from the house at the time of night with a strikeout at the entrance. The two-point shot went up to the Green Monster, and so the game tied five.
Triggs seventh most successfully, however, Ozuna crushed Atlanta’s third home in front of Monster Seats, breaking the draw 5-5 in the process.
– Ryan Brasier did his thing with Duvall in the eighth, which allowed the right defender to reach his third (!) Night circuit with two outs in the inning.
– Despite a mistake on the field through Rafael Devers, Matt Barnes released a flawless ninth.
IN THE BATTERY BOX: Boston wasted no time getting on the board.
The Red Sox broke two separate doubles for RBIs to Robbie Erlin’s box in the first inlet. The first came here from Devers, who knocked down Alex Verdugo in the first entry of the Boston game.
The moment came only two hitters later when JD Martinez covered the laser in the center. That scored devers to take the score to 2-0 in Boston.
But the marker didn’t stop there. Michael Chavis nailed the 3rd inning with a high sacrifice to the central area scored by Xander Bogaerts from the 3rd.
Erlin retired Bradley Jr. to end the inning, but the pain was done.
– JBJ was redeemed soon after.
The middle draw threw a solo shot at the Green Monster to break a 3-3 draw with a punch in the room.It is also his third home run of the season.
– Martinez received his career driven at the time of night with a single forehand in the fifth inning, which took Boston’s lead to two.
