The recipients of conditional money transfers (CTC) from the federal government to Amuwo-Odofin, Apapa-Iganmu, Ibeju-Lekki, Epe and Badagry, Lagos, won 10,000 cards by May and June.
The initiative presented in Lagos this weekend. Others to cover will get theirs this week.
Ms. Yetunde Arobieke, Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, commended the federal government, through the National Office for the Coordination of Social Security Networks, under the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, for its cash movement unit in Lagos.
Arobieke thanked Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment and for making implementation a success.
He said registrations began in April with the maximum number of vulnerable, senior and maximum identified homelessness. Approximately 8,147 families were registered through the Money Transfer Office, as approved by the governor in April, he added.
The program’s national coordinator, Dr. Temitope Shinkaye, represented through Mohammed Abdullah, said the program focused on the poor and known through geographic and network targeting.
It stated that the program facilitated the transfer of 5,000 N per month to known beneficiaries, and noted that the payment was made every two months to eligible families who decided on the national social register.
