The Radxa NIO 12L is a single-board computer about the size of a small smartphone, but it has a lot more ports than you’re likely to find on any phone.
Powered by an octa-core MediaTek Genio 1200 processor, the tiny card supports up to 16GB of RAM, features a built-in NPU for hardware-accelerated AI features, and has HDMI, Gigabit Ethernet, and five USB 3. 0 ports in and out. Radxa NIO 12L can be pre-ordered at ARACE for $99 or more, with delivery expected to begin on May 10, 2024.
The starting price is for a model with 4GB of LPDDR4x-4266 RAM and 64GB of UFS 2. 1 storage, but there are four value/configuration features available at launch:
The starting price is also for a card with Yocto or Android pre-installed. You can also opt for Ubuntu 22. 04 LTS, but that brings the price up to $25, likely because Radxa partners with Ubuntu for certification, security, and longevity. term (Ubuntu models come with “up to 10 years of security updates and “). “).
MediaTek’s Genio 1200 processor, four ARM Cortex-A78 cores supporting speeds up to 2. 4GHz, four Cortex-A55 cores at 2GHz, Mali-G57 graphics, and a dual-core Cadence Tensilica VP6 AI accelerator for up to four AI TOPS performance and a single-core Cadence HiFi audio engine with four DSPs.
The card also features a microSD card reader for detachable storage, optional for an eMMC module, and a set of ports and connectors including:
There’s WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5. 2 support, a PSTN battery connector, a power/status/user RGB LED, and a 40-pin GPIO header.
The card has three demo outputs if you count the HDMI, USB, and MIPI-DSI connectors, but Radxa says you can use two presentations simultaneously.
You can use a 5V USB-C power adapter or use GPIO pins 2 and four to connect a power source. Radxa recommends at least a 20W power source if you plan to use all of the card’s USB ports, or 10W if you don’t plug in any USB devices.
The Radxa NIO 12L measures 140 x mm (5. 5″ x 3″).

It looks like a scaled-down edition of the MediaTek Dimensity 1100 chipset. Instead of a 9-core iGPU, it may only have 6 cores.
Another welcome addition. Good festival compared to the cards with R Pi five chipset and RockChip RK3688. MediaTek has taken a step forward especially on the software side since the days of Helium, so this comes as a surprise.
But it’s in the pudding.
