Photographer captures amazing photographs of an incredibly infrequent white humpback whale

A photographer has captured extremely beautiful photographs of what is believed to be one of Earth’s 4 humpback albino whales.

Craig Parry, 41, six kilometres from Cape Byron, New South Wales, when he saw the magnificent 40-foot-long creature called ‘Migaloo’ or ‘white boy’.

Migaloo, which he first saw in 1991, noticed that he swam alongside another whale in the deep blue waters, northbound between the south coast of New South Wales and Byron Bay.

Parry said:

Honestly, there are not many milestones as an artist, however, I must say that this moment with Migaloo will be a vital era in my life, not only as a photographer but also as a human.

Parry had in the past included a “detailed tail collection” symbol in an Instagram post, noting that scientists were to identify humpback whales.

Migaloo is regarded as “the world’s most famous humpback whale”, having fascinated experts for decades. At an assembly in Hervey Bay, Queensland in 1993, researchers at the Pacific Whale Foundation were able to verify that Migaloo was all white.

According to the Pacific Whale Foundation website, Migaloo may be known in several ways:

The apparent feature is that it is all white, but we also use other physical characteristics: its dorsal fin (at the back) is crooked and its tail pits have a unique shape, with pointed edges along the lower exhaust side.

A 2011 DNA from researchers at the Australian Marine Mammal Center revealed a genetic variation that causes albinism; confirming that Migaloo is a true albino.
