Sunderland’s pub The Rabbit was forced to close after reporting that a visitor who tested positive for covid had isolated himself
It’s as well known or as elegant as Mowbray Park and Barnes Park, but Backhouse Park has a wilder charm.
Park visitors are now asked to capture how they spend their free time in the park, which has entrances to Ashbrooke and Ryhope Road.
There are six categories in total. Dogs in the park, playgrounds (only for your own children), nature, wild animals, art paintings and park cleaning.
Open to all young people and adults living in Sunderland, the festival is organized through ICOS (Sunderland International Community Organization) in collaboration with the East Rangers and Sunderland City Council.
Daniel Krzyszczak, manager of ICOS, said, “There’s not a lot of positive news right now, yet we’re doing a lot for the park and we think this festival is a wonderful way to shed light on the park. “
“We’ve collected a lot of trash with local schools and youth teams and this has led many others to be proud of the park and feel like owners.
“Everyone can participate in the contest, regardless of age, and we’re actually looking ahead to see the nominations because there are as many images of Backhouse Park as there are of other parks in the city. I hope that, when possible, we can use the photographs for an exhibition. “
With the council, other innovations have included larger containers and the transformation of an ancient water source into a blue flower beds. ICOS is also working with Friends of Backhouse Park to create a wildflower lawn as a component of a new World War I Memorial Garden in the park.
St Michael’s District Councilman Michael Dixon said: “Thanks to the Friends of Backhouse Park and ICOS, things are getting more wonderful in the park and much more attention is paid to. As a neighborhood, other people are very proud of this park and it is a wonderful convenience. »
Formerly Ashburne Park, Backhouse Park donated to the Sunderland Corporation in 1922 through Thomas William Backhouse, as well as Ashburne House, an impressive Grade II indexed construction that is lately undergoing a friendly recovery and became a circle of family members at home.
Katie Kelly, head of the environment on the board, said, “We’re running to eliminate what you don’t want to be here, like rotten poles, while we get a better entrance, add clearer signage and make it more available to people. . . “
“We do the fundamental maintenance, however, the paintings of the park’s volunteers complement what we do. “
The contest will be evaluated through Newborn Story Photography and the category winner will get a professional impression of their image, and the overall winner will receive a photo shoot from the family circle.
