The state’s Department of Education is seeking opinions from the network on 3 conceivable sites to rebuild the permanent home at King Kamehameha III Elementary School.

The original campus of King Kamehameha III Elementary School located along Front Street and hopelessly destroyed in the bushfires of August 8, 2023. After being housed on the campus of Princess Nāhi’ena’nena Primary School since October 2023, a transitional school site on Akahele Street opened to scholars on April 1, 2024.

Built by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. The transitional campus is close to the Kapalua airport and will operate for up to five years while plans are made for a permanent replacement school.

A network assembly will be held to discuss the long-term site of King Kamehameha III Primary School at five p. m. Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in the cafeteria of the transition campus, located at 100 Akahele Street in Lahaina. Ask the network for feedback on the location of the permanent location. The schedule will come with presentations on the 3 conceivable placement options, feedback from the network in small teams or individually, and an explanation of the next steps in the variety process.
