A survey of nearly six hundred automotive progression professionals shows that compliance with all requirements of ISO 26262 is the top protection concern; protection and quality were also at the forefront.
MINNEAPOLIS, May 19, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Perforce Software, a provider of answers for business groups that require productivity and visibility at scale within the SDLC, has released the effects of its annual Survey on the State of Automotive Software Development conducted in partnership with Automotive IQ. Nearly six hundred automotive progression professionals around the world provided answers to existing practices and emerging trends within the industry. Key findings suggest a growing fear for the safety of automotive software, as the motor vehicle market continues to evolve rapidly.
With the continued expansion of the autonomous, semi-autonomous, electric and connected vehicle segments, software is even more at the heart of automotive evolution. The increasing amount of software installed in cars can lead to more safety and security considerations in the process of progression. In fact, 76% of car developers have followed or are in the process of adopting a left-hand change strategy to identify security and software vulnerabilities as soon as possible.
In addition, the survey found that the three most sensible considerations of car developers are protection (34%, 9% less than last year), protection (27%, 5% more than last year) and quality (25%, 9% less than last year). and 4% increasing since last year). Among those most involved in protection, 46% said their biggest concerns were the difficulties and time required to comply with all the requirements of ISO 26262.
“Security remains the most sensible priority for the automotive software industry, but security considerations continue to rise as the desire to protect electronic systems, communications networks and automotive software constructions,” said Perforce vice president of product Ido Benmoshe. and your source chain partners want to prevent you from costly and malicious attacks, unauthorized access or manipulation of automotive systems, and making sure your code is secure is the first step in mitigating those incidents. “
The progression of autonomous, semi-autonomous, electric and connected cars also has a strong impact on progression groups. Most of the groups run in autonomous and semi-autonomous parts (82%, up 38% from last year), electrical parts (87%, up 39% from last year) and connectivity parts (83%, up 34% from last year) to some extent.
Another notable finding is that 86% use popular coding to create secure, secure, and reliable code; 46% of respondents use a static code research tool to facilitate compliance and 31% use a SAST tool to create secure software.
“Automotive industry organizations continue to try to achieve the highest degrees of quality,” said Jill Britton, chief compliance officer. “With the immediate expansion of the electric and autonomous vehicle segments, meeting the safety and security criteria is going to be more than ever. “
