The Pac-12 convention has postponed all school sports until the end of the 2020 Calfinishar year, canceling all unconventional basketball games for the 2020-21 season at the earliest.
The convention announced its Tuesday afternoon.
“We know this is a difficult day for our student-athletes, and our mind is with them and their families,” Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott said in a statement. “We have made it transparent that all your scholarships will be guaranteed and that, as a conference, we strongly inspire the NCAA to grant them one more year of eligibility.”
The resolution follows resolutions through Big Ten and Pac-12 to postpone their respective school football seasons, convention officials remain positive about the resumption of sport in the spring.
The No Power Five convention “accelerates” its decisions about unconventional basketball games, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
University of Oregon President Michael H. Schill in a statement:
“All Pac-12 presidents and chancellors perceive the importance of this resolution and the sadness it will create for our students-athletes, coaches, staff and all of our fans. Ultimately, our resolution was guided through science and a deep commitment to the fitness and well-being of students-athletes In fact, we hope that the Pac-12 can return to the festival in the new year.

The Pac-12 had already scheduled convention games from last November to early December this season. It is not known if those games will be postponed.
Tuesday’s resolution was taken in consultation with the convention’s athletics administrators and the Pac-12 COVID-19 Medical Advisory Committee. The convention also released an update on similar considerations for returning to the game.
The COVID-19 Medical Advisory Committee of the league is made up of medical experts from member institutions.
