News in a nutshell:
The first NXP industry to mix UWB, NFC, Secure Element and the integrated SIM card (eSIM) is included in Samsung’s new Galaxy Note20 Ultra.
NXP’s UWB generation delivers “relative location” with unprecedented accuracy in overcrowded multipath signaling environments with many walls, other people, and other obstacles.
NXP’s mobile wallet was transformed into an end-to-end solution for a variety of security programs, such as NFC-based payments, cellular ticketing, eSIM, and early area programs of this type enabled through UWB.
EINDHOVEN, Netherlands, August 11, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – NXP Semiconductors NV (NASDAQ: NXPI) today announced that NXP’s thin secure ultra-broadband (UWB) solution, built-in SIM card (eSIM) and near-box communication unit (NFC) and Secure Element (eSE) are implemented on Samsung’s new Galaxy Note20 Ultra1. NXP’s inventions bring a variety of long-lasting features and programs to mobile devices, as they are the smart center of everyday virtual life.
By driving today’s cellular lifestyle with secure cellular solutions, NXP is linking consortiums and ecosystem collaborations to an industry-friendly alignment around UWB. NXP and Samsung are two of the founding members of the FiRa Consortium, which was established in 2019 to announce interoperability in the widespread progression and adoption of UWB.
“For the first time on a Galaxy device, Samsung is integrating NXP’s UWB generation into our new Galaxy Note20 Ultra to make the percentage of photos, videos and files less difficult,” said Inkang Song, VICE President and Director of Mobile Communications at IT. Organization of division generation strategy at Samsung Electronics. “We are excited to introduce long-term UWB features into our Galaxy devices that will help locate more parts as it should with AR generation and unlock your home as a virtual key that will make life less difficult for consumers.”
The UWB generation delivers unprecedented accuracy, whether on online sites (LoS) and robust location in offline scenarios (nLoS), such as multi-subject sign environments crammed with many walls, other people, and other obstacles. It also uses Arrival Angle Generation (AoA) to involve the direction of a sign for greater accuracy and to locate and identify other devices or elements at the centimeter level. With this, Samsung’s use of UWB on its new Galaxy Note20 Ultra provides users with rugged equipment to help them maximize their time and simplify their routines.
“NXP offers a complete set of UWB chipsets that protect the most productive security, automotive, IoT, and cellular architectures for accurate, real-time location functions in market applications; this has never been more with cellular devices that drive identity digitization so that others can interact without contact with the world around them,” said Rafael Sotomayor, executive vice president and general manager of connectivity and security at NXP. “In addition to UWB, eSIM is also a new use case enabled in our cellular wallet that provides connectivity features beyond the classic SIM card.”
A physically powerful solution for long-term mobility
Hands-free control: Unmatched precision detection of NXP’s Secure UWB generation includes an exceptional location that will allow mobile devices to talk to connected doors, access issues, and cars for fully hands-free control.
Simplified integration: Based on NXP’s NFC connectivity, cellular eco-formula experience, and proven security architecture of many popular cellular payment devices today, UWB can be a component of a formula that initiates communication temporarily and securely. With built-in NFC, devices can continue to transact contactless even when they run out of battery.
The next generation of connectivity: Unlike classic SIM cards that want to be removed and replaced on new devices, NXP’s GSMA-enabled eSIM solution is permanently incorporated into a device, making it much less difficult to supply the SIM card remotely and lively. SIM updates. The location of the external SIM and the eSIM allow end users to have two or more phone numbers on a device. eSIM comes with all Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra devices, with the exception of China, Japan and Korea.
