Microblogging site Twitter has announced a new feature that will allow its users to restrict unwanted responses or mentions, allowing them to better exercise their interactions. This will help users avoid all kinds of abuse in their mention segment while talking on the platform. Twitter’s newest feature will necessarily allow users to restrict the number of other people who can respond to their posts.

Suzanne Xie, director of product management, said in a blog post that the new moderation feature had been released regardless for Android and iOS platforms with the Internet edition of the service after a beta check in May.
Suzanne also explained that the ability to decide who responds to a specific tweet makes other people feel more comfortable, especially when communicating about what’s happening. He also noted that the beta version had gained positive feedback and that those using the feature felt protected and more comfortable against spam and online abuse. Xie also revealed that he saw users use the feature to have interactions that were previously not really imaginable.

Twitter has shown that the feature will be available to all users, even elected officials. When you write a new tweet, a small icon representing a balloon will appear on the screen just below the tweet. If you click this icon, you can restrict the responses to your fans or those you discussed in your tweet. If you continue to write a tweet without making those changes, everyone will be able to respond to your tweet.

However, if you restrict responses without mentioning someone in your tweet, the tweet will be noticed through all users, however, no one will be able to reply to them.
Users who have banned responding to a specific tweet will still have the option to interact with the tweet by liking, retwosing or even retwosing a comment; However, when they leave to respond, they will find a gray- output icon.
