The 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (160′ SOAR), better known as Night Stalkers, has sporadically conducted high-altitude outdoor education at Colorado Metropolitan Rocky Mountain Airport (KBJC) for more than two months.MH-47, a guy who is famous for his high-altitude capabilities. Now, some of the aircraft used for these operations have emerged with a mysterious alteration consisting of nets and boxes covering the upper middle section of their fuselages.
Aeronautical photographer Memphis Larson, who is going through the 121,700 more care on Instagram, saw the Chinooks enter and leave the domain in recent weeks and promptly saw this new update when he gave the impression on August 6.War Zone:
The 3 MH-47Gs of the 160th SOAR first appeared at Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport (KBJC) on June 11, 2020, and then entered and departed over the next few weeks, once with a wooden box.On August 3, they returned with two CH-47Fs from the 2nd Battalion, 227th Air Regiment, and flew for a few days.
On August 6, they pulled one of the CH-47s (08177) from the main ramp back to the hangars, and when they noticed that it was rolling, the black boxes were attached to the sides. After a quick flight, they returned to the hangar shelter. The next day, an MH-47 took off and returned while towing the MH-47 (03728) throughout 08177.Finally, on August 8, the five took off and the Changed Chinooks rolled.of the hangars on a track and was combined with the 3 “normal” Chinooks.
It is unclear whether the above Special Operations Unit is running 2.• Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment or if it is some of the unit’s CH-47F helicopters for those operations. The 160″ helicopters rendered for operations in the past, adding in war zones These aircraft do not involve the maximum of the MH-47’s extensive self-protection modifications, sensors, communications and infrared suppression, however, a Chinook is a Chinook and the “Foxtrot” style is the newest variant available.Note that the MH-47s used up to the 160o SOAR for those workouts do not have their giant refueling probes mounted.
Each mysterious amendment includes a dozen stressed panel-shaped square nets with an elongated fixed box-shaped design at an angle in the center. Two of these amenities are noticeable in the appearance of two Chinooks, one MH-47 and the other a CH-47.Se fixed through the cabin on cross beams, the aircraft’s detachable windows as an opening. We have never noticed a formula like this in a Chinook and it is not transparent when it comes to infrared countermeasures, navigation, communications or electronics. Our most productive estimate would be the last, however, it is made transparently to be installed on any Chinook with its modular format. This type of electronic warfare formula concept is not unknown in special operations helicopters.
The 160th SOAR is known to the common Colorado for exercising due to its maximum altitude, which is similar to that faced by crews abroad. Density altitude has a significant effect on helicopters, especially those loaded with commandos and their devices that will have to perform complicated maneuvers in narrow contact areas. Therefore, the presence of the unit in KBJC is not a surprise, but what turns out to be the verification of a new external amendment is.
As for the trials of this so-far unknown team, it’s not that the Night Stalkers, who are notoriously shy, are looking to hide something, fly with him in broad daylight at a public airport they’ve been visiting for weeks.
We’ll update this message with new one as we receive it.
