OSHKOSH – Who let the dogs out? Well, now dog house owners in northern Winnebago County can do this, with the Winnebago County Parks Department.
The decomposer will perform a rite of inauguration Tuesday at the Jerry Finch Winnebago County Dog Park, 1111 Ehlers Road, Fox Crossing. It is named after former Winnebago County board member Jerry Finch, who was a strong advocate for the creation of a dog park in the northern component of the county.
The new dog park will be the time in the county. The other is best friends dog park in the Winnebago County Community Park in Oshkosh.
Adam Brest, Winnebago County’s director of parks, said the need for a park in the northern part of the county became known about 10 or 15 years ago.
Brest said there was a kind of “soft opening” last fall at the 4. 5-acre dog park, which includes a giant open field, a wooden domain, a small dog domain and garbage bags, but “there’s still some cleanup to be done. “
While citizens have already come with their dogs, Brest said the Fox Crossing Fire Department will be there this weekend to make complete arrangements for the inauguration by cutting down more trees and opening trails in the wooded area.
Breest said another exciting facet of the new park is its location and connection to other nearby parks. The dog park is located along friendship Trail that connects other parks around Neenah and Menasha, such as Fritse Park.
“Offering the option to our local network to have the opportunity to recreate with their dogs is a wonderful achievement,” Brest said. “We are excited to officially open this new dog park to the public. “
