The next pro-level iPhone may just be the beginning of the end for Dynamic Island.
According to a rumor posted via Chinese site MyDrivers (via Wccftech), the iPhone 17 Pro may only feature a reduced Dynamic Island. The pill-shaped front camera module that comes with the iPhone 14 Pro has been a reliable and useful replacement for the hated notch, thanks to its ability to animate and demonstrate many other types of notifications. However, if this rumor is true, it will be discounted on the 17 Pro and, as noted by Wccftech, Apple could abandon it altogether while looking for a possible “all-screen” iPhone in the long run. Of course, this is expected to happen no earlier than 2026.
MyDrivers also claimed in the same report that the bezels around the iPhone 17 Pro will be smaller than in the past. Other than that, the main details of the iPhone 17 Pro are sparse and murky. In theory, the Pro will come together via a regular iPhone 17, as well as the much-rumored iPhone 17 Air. The Air model is meant to be the thinnest iPhone ever created (in case the call didn’t make that clear), but a recent report suggested that Apple was having a hard time pulling it off due to battery life limitations.
If you like Dynamic Island, be sure to keep it close to you as much as possible. It may not be long for this world.
