A cell coronavirus unit will be installed in Atherstone to pave the way for an immediate reaction to local outbreaks.

It will run through the army and will be in the Woolpack Way car park in the city center.

North Warwickshire City Council has been under pressure that its arrival is no cause for fear, as it is a component of its plans for a imaginable outbreak.

The cellular control unit will be put into operation on Sunday (August 16) and Monday (August 17) first and on days when the car park will be closed to the public.

Councillor David Wright, head of the NWBC, said: “I would like to assure the other people in North Warwickshire that the arrival of the cell verification unit at Atherstone next week is a component of our reaction plan for us to prepare if we want a local emergency closure.

“This has been known as the proper maximum location in the district and by no means does it mean there are grounds to fear in Atherstone.

“I hope the MTU isn’t necessary, but it’s a component of our emergency preparedness and planning work.”

The MTU will be a live site and will be available to the public on days when all tests must be pre-booked through www.nhs.uk or by calling 119.
